Daniel Olivas

Board Member

Daniel A. Olivas, Board Member, is the author of 12 books including Chicano Frankenstein (Forest Avenue Press, 2024), and My Chicano Heart: New and Collected Stories of Love and Other Transgressions (University of Nevada Press, 2024). He is also a playwright, editor, and book critic. Olivas is co-editor (with poet León Salvatierra) of the new book series from the University of Nevada Press, The New Oeste: Literatura Latinx of the American West in the 21st Century. Widely anthologized, he has written on literature and culture for The New York Times, Los Angeles Review of Books, Los Angeles Times, Zocálo, Latino Book Review, and Alta Journal. Olivas earned his degree in English literature from Stanford University, and law degree from UCLA. By day, he is a senior attorney with the California Department of Justice specializing in land use and environmental enforcement. Website: https://danielolivas.com.
