Clarissa Campos (she/her)is a Salvadorena-Mexicana who enjoys learning and creating daily. Clarissa was born and raised in Panorama City and has dedicated her research to mass incarceration and abolition for that very reason, as well as the ever growing mass incarceration currently happening in El Salvador. She also gains a lot of her inspiration from the ocean, street art, and Chicano art styles. Clarissa received her BA in Sociology from CSUN and her MA in American Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She understands abolition as a political vision, structural analysis of oppression, organizing strategy, and creative experimentation. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to justice, just an understanding that the current approach does not provide public safety or wellness. In order to reimagine justice, Clarissa believes we must work and create something together, to not only remove white supremacist ideologies from our minds and neighborhoods, but to replace them entirely. As a Trauma to Transformation program assistant, she is excited to be part of something integral to reimagining justice through creative experimentation and expression, especially for those directly impacted by the prison system.
